What is ARTscape

In 2024 the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre (QEIIMC) Trust held a five-day art event that engaged five prominent Western Australian artists to create large-scale murals across the campus, forming a captivating gallery of street art works. Artscape 2024 brought colour and community to the campus.

ARTscape

ARTscape 2025 invites the QEIIMC community to contribute to a new artwork on campus. We are hoping to create an art installation that combines hundreds of designs submitted by patients, visitors, and staff.

Selected designs will be transformed into a permanent installation, creating a shared legacy on campus.

How to Get Involved
We encourage you to draw inspiration from your cultural backgrounds to create a meaningful design. Your artwork, if chosen, will be hand painted onto a rock and permanently placed on campus, allowing you to leave a lasting impression.

In the attached template, use the oval outline and the designated colour palette to create your design. Once you are happy with your design, submit it to the QEIIMC Trust to make sure your design is eligible for selection.

Designs can be created with pencils, markers, paint, or digitally. We welcome artists of all skill levels.

Information Pop-ups
To help you join in, we will be setting up an information desk along Watling Walk over the next few months. You’ll find resources, guidance, and answers to any questions you may have about ARTscape 2025.

The next information pop up will be announced soon.

Submission Details
Submit your design by 17 February 2025 via the submission form on this page, or by email to qeiimctrust@health.wa.gov.au with the subject "ARTscape Design,".

Alternatively, you can drop it into the designated submission box located on E Street in E Block.

A panel will select finalists whose designs will become part of this lasting installation.

Where will it be?

Artscape will transform the Physiotherapy Garden at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital into a calming Zen Space that celebrates creativity, cultural heritage, and inclusivity.

This new Zen Space will serve as a place for relaxation, reflection, and cultural connection. It will be open to all members of the QEIIMC community, showcasing the artwork that represents and honours the diverse backgrounds of everyone involved.

Selected designs will be transformed into permanent installation, creating a shared legacy on campus.

How will it work?

During Harmoney Week, 17 – 21 Match 2025, Sioux Tempestt and 3 emerging WA artists will be hand painting the selected designs onto rocks. These rocks will then be cemented into the garden bed.

We encourage you to visit the Physiotherapy Garden to watch this installation process.
