A New Era in Public Transport: The Airport Line Introduction

The eagerly awaited Airport Line is set to revolutionize travel to and from the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre (QEIIMC), starting Monday, 10 October 2022. This significant development in Perth's public transport network brings with it changes to existing Transperth services, aimed at enhancing connectivity and convenience for QEIIMC passengers.

Key Service Adjustments for QEIIMC Commuters

Enhanced Train Services at Shenton Park Station

Shenton Park Station, now part of the Airport Line network, will see increased train frequencies. During peak hours, trains to and from Claremont and Perth will run every 6 minutes, ensuring smoother and quicker commutes for QEIIMC staff and visitors.

Bus Route Revisions
  • Route 24 sees the introduction of additional trips, effectively replacing Route 26, to maintain seamless travel between Perth CBD and QEIIMC during peak times.
  • Route 25 receives a frequency boost, improving access between Hollywood Hospital, QEIIMC, and Shenton Park Station. Coupled with the CircleRoute (routes 998 and 999), it offers a high-frequency link to Shenton Park Station.
  • Route 26 will be withdrawn, with Route 24 serving as the alternative.
  • Route 96 will have two additional trips extending to Dog Swamp Shopping Centre, catering to peak morning and afternoon demands.
  • Route 103 sees some trips withdrawn, optimizing the service in line with new network demands.
  • Routes 998 and 999 (CircleRoute) undergo time adjustments to better align with train schedules, facilitating smoother transfers.

With these changes, passengers are advised to plan their journeys in advance to ensure a smooth transition to the new service schedules. Utilizing Transperth’s JourneyPlanner, contacting Transperth directly, or engaging with the QEIIMC TravelSmart team are recommended steps to stay informed and prepared.
